Tips on How to Make Homemade Fudge {Quick & Easy}

  • We really enjoyed this fudge with the dried fruit and nuts. Toasting the nuts really brings out a great flavor and aroma to the fudge. The bright flavors of the dried fruit and their chewy bite add another great dimension to this chocolatey fudge. Each bite had so many wonderful flavors and textures that it was really hard to just eat one.
  • Don’t like fruit and nuts in your fudge? No problem, just don’t add anything!
  • Stir well in between the microwave intervals to melt the chocolate. If you overheat the chocolate it may affect the texture. Stirring gives the chocolate a chance to melt without overheating it.
  • Use whatever chocolate you prefer. Milk or dark chocolate will work just fine. You can cut up from chocolate blocks or use chocolate chips/morsels. Just avoid the chocolate candy melts. They are fine for cake pops and such, but the flavor will be lacking for the fudge.
  • Store the fudge in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (18 oz./510g) Chocolate Chips
  • 14 oz. (397g) Sweetened Condensed Milk (not evaporated milk)
  • 1 cup (240ml) chopped nuts , toasted
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) optional- dried fruit , such as dried cherries, apricots, raisins, etc.

Equipment

  • Microwave

Instructions

  • Grease 8×8 inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or line with foil. Set aside.

  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Microwave on High in 30 second intervals or until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, stirring well between every 30 second interval. Stir to make sure everything is combined. The chocolate chips will continue to melt as you stir.

  • Add the nuts and optional dried fruit to the chocolate and stir to combine the mixture.

  • Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan and lightly press to evenly flatten the fudge and to press into the edges of pan to make sure chocolate fills the corners.

  • Chill the fudge for about 2-3 hours or until the fudge is cooled and solid enough to be removed from the pan. Once the fudge is cooled, remove from the pan and cut into bite sized pieces.
