The average price of regular gas in the independent stations is now 24.9 cents, and by Monday it should be a cent higher, it was stated. Dan Lundberg, executive secretary of the California Petroleum Marketing Council, stated that the retail rise will' reflect increases announced this week by seven independent refineries. Lundberg said, "It will remove the noxious difference between the prices of the majors and minors, and it should end the San Diego price war.

"Need for the increase was caused by dwindling inventories, Lundberg said. Exact amount of the increase may vary from one station to another, depending on how much of the wholesale hike the retailer passes on to the motorist, according to the Los Angeles reports.
